About Rob

I learned more about leadership as a patient in a treatment facility than I did in 17 years of military service

In 2015, I anxiously walked into a PTSD treatment programme at Faslane Naval Base as an officer who had spent 6 years leading teams in some of the most demanding environments the British Army offers. In the preceding year, I had completed a challenging and at times scary 8-month tour in Afghanistan and had lost one of my best friends in a tragic accident. Several weeks later, I walked out as someone who finally understood that real strength isn't about enduring more — it's about knowing yourself well enough to lead and live with clarity, not just competence.

That experience changed the trajectory of my career. It's the reason I became a coach. And it's the reason I work with high-performing leaders who look successful on the outside but know they haven't reached their ceiling yet.

My Journey

Since 2009, I've served as a British Army Officer in the Royal Army Medical Service. I've commanded a medical close support squadron of 120 people. I've planned and delivered medical support in complex, high-pressure operations. I've trained the next generation of military medical officers. And I've served alongside top-tier leaders on the German General Staff College — the equivalent of the UK's Advanced Command and Staff Course — giving me a deep understanding of multinational strategic leadership.

Today, I serve as the UK Exchange Officer to German Army Headquarters, operating daily at the intersection of multinational strategy, communication, and leadership.

I hold two master's degrees (Leadership & Management for Health and Social Care; Security Studies), a postgraduate diploma in Executive Coaching & Mentoring from Cumbria University with the Institute of Leadership and Management, and a professional background spanning healthcare management, military training, and defence policy.

My Coaching Philosophy

I believe that most high performers don't need more information. They need more clarity.

Clarity on what actually matters. Clarity on what's holding them back. Clarity on the few actions that will move the needle — and the discipline to protect their time and energy for those actions alone.

My coaching is structured, evidence-based, and grounded in the GROW framework — adapted through 17 years of real-world leadership and staff planning. It's not motivational. It's not theoretical. It's a disciplined process for people who are serious about reaching their next level.

Who am I

When I'm not coaching or serving, I'm walking our cocker spaniel Loki at dawn with my wife, training in the gym, skiing in the Alps, or researching the geopolitical implications of Bitcoin (my master's thesis explored the national security effects of Bitcoin, and I've recently submitted work to RUSI on Bitcoin mining for energy resilience).

I live in Germany with my wife, and our long-term plan is simple: build a life with space for family, mountains, and meaningful work that helps people succeed.
